however，whereas，while，yet 這組詞都含 “而、然而、卻” 等轉(zhuǎn)折的意思。

however： “然而、可是” 語氣較弱, 聯(lián)接也較少松弛. 因此常被用來插人句子中間。

You ask me to do the work; I am afraid_ however_ that I amnot equal to it. “你請我做這事，然而，我恐怕不能勝任?！?/p>

whereas ： “而、卻、反之、其實” 表示較為鮮明的對比或?qū)φ?，語氣強烈，也較正式。

After the exhausting journey, he fell ill , whereas I was only alittle tired. “令人疲憊的旅行結(jié)束后他病倒了，而我只不過稍覺疲倦罷了。”

while： ‘而、卻、雖然” 表示對比，但語氣較弱。 While the doctors did all they could, they couldn't save her life;the next day after the operation，she died. “雖然醫(yī)生已盡其所能，但仍未救活她的命，手術(shù)第二天她就死了。”

yet： “而、然而、可是”，正式用語，讓步轉(zhuǎn)折的語氣較強烈，而且多指付出了努力，卻與預期結(jié)果或主觀打算相違背。常用短語：and yet 然而、可是：but yet 但是還…

可還是.… His speech was almost unintellgible , ( and ) yet for some unknown reason I enjoyed it very much. “他的演講雖有些莫名其妙，但不知為何我卻非常愿意 (喜歡) 聽?！?/p>
